Last Updated: 18 May 2002 Lancashire County Council has resolved to undertake environmental studies of the Heysham - M6 link routes (the Lancaster bypass). If the Western route proves impossible, the County Council may then pursue the Northern route. Or perhaps a subterranean route. Or anything that will mean massive channelling of local resources to the road construction industry and compulsory purchase of expensive little land parcels. (The cabinet resolution in full appears here and you can read about the latest developmenst as of October 2002 here).
